Obama peace prize visit

With the extraordinary event of a serving US president visiting Norway to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009, the TV2 news channel - leading national news broad caster, was challenged to provide to most accurate and up to date coverage the country had yet seen on line. This led to Turbo Tape Games most high profile, though far from largest, project so far. The finished solution provided journalists with the means to publish, edit and remove news items at an update speed of mere seconds, alongside constant 24 hour live video feeds. As many as one third of the population of Norway followed the transmission.

Turbo Tape Games main responsibility was to create the news reel panels for the infield and on location journalists, and empower them with technology to post editorials, comments, images, slide shows, video and links. This was accomplished with XML and web service technology polled by a subtle Flash panel that was integrated with the live web video without interfering with the stream.

It was with some anxiety we opened the TV2news web sites at the morning of the visit. It turned out to be with no reason. The system flowed without incident for remainder of the day.
